HABLA: the website of the forum that wants to transform education in Mexico

With Boo Studio, our partners in Mexico, we planned and built HABLA's digital ecosystem, the initiative from Grupo Educación on the future of education: first a landing page to buy time, then the definitive website on Drupal.

01The context

A space for dialogue to improve education in Mexico

HABLA is an initiative driven by Grupo Educación that defines itself as a space for dialogue and learning committed to transforming the future of education in Mexico. Its centrepiece is the HABLA Summit, an annual gathering that brings together teachers, students, families and public policy officials with world-class speakers: at its first edition, in 2023, Yuval Noah Harari and Andreas Schleicher, the OECD's Director for Education, took the stage. It's an exercise in positive self-criticism, looking the country's education system in the eye in order to improve it. The project came to us through Boo Studio, the design studio we've worked with in Mexico since we built their own website in 2019.

02The challenge

A Summit on the calendar and very little room to manoeuvre

By late 2023, HABLA needed a digital presence worthy of the initiative: a place to publish the programme for the next Summit, grow its subscriber base and start pouring in all the content it generates, from articles and reports to news, videos and events. The problem was the calendar: the deadlines were too tight to conceptualise, design and build a full website before it was needed.

On top of that, the website had to speak to very different audiences, the education community, families and public policy decision-makers, and grow edition after edition without depending on us for every change.

03The solution

First, buy time; then, the website done properly

We proposed splitting the project into two stages. In seven weeks we launched a landing page on WordPress, in January 2024, with the essentials: what HABLA is, the 2023 edition and the newsletter sign-up. That gave us the room to build the definitive website without giving up on doing it right.

We started with conceptualisation: audience sessions and user journeys with the HABLA team, the content tree, the taxonomy of education topics and the wireframes. On that structure, Boo Studio designed the interface, and we turned it into a website on Drupal 10 with content types built for an editorial initiative: topics, articles, downloadable publications, news, events, videos and podcasts, plus a dedicated family for the Summit with speakers, programme, venue and tickets. Each Summit edition has its own homepage within the same website.

We launched the definitive website in June 2024, with the newsletter integrated into Mailchimp and contact and press forms. We trained the HABLA team to manage content and events with full autonomy, and since then we've handled technical maintenance and further developments whenever they're needed.

04The results

A website that grows with every Summit

Since June 2024, hablamex.com has been the meeting point for the HABLA community: it already brings together four Summit editions, from 2023 to 2026, and a growing archive of articles and resources on education in Mexico and around the world. The HABLA team manages it on its own, edition after edition, and we're still at their side keeping the platform running. We're proud to be part of an initiative with a purpose like this: helping improve education in a country like Mexico.

How it turned out.

  • The hablamex.com homepage, with the HABLA Summit 2026 header and the featured content.
  • Each Summit edition has its own homepage within the website, like the 2026 one.
  • The block of figures on education in Mexico, on the topic page.
