Cookie policy

This site stores in your browser what it needs to work and to remember your preferences and, only if you accept, analytics cookies to learn how it is used. Here we explain what it stores, what for, for how long, and how to change your choice.
What cookies and similar technologies are
A cookie is a small file a website stores in your browser to remember something from one page to the next, or between visits. There are other ways to store information on your device, such as the browser’s local storage. The law treats them the same way, and so does this policy.
What this site stores in your browser
Light or dark theme (db-theme, local storage)
- Who sets it: digitalbakers.com.
- What for: to remember the light or dark theme you chose with the toggle in the header.
- How long: until you change it or clear the site’s data.
- Does it need your permission? No: it is a preference you choose.
Your cookie choice (db-consent, local storage)
- Who sets it: digitalbakers.com, when you accept or reject analytics in the cookie notice.
- What for: to remember your answer, its date and the version of this policy you gave it under, so we do not ask again on every page.
- How long: 24 months at most. If this policy changes, we will ask you again sooner.
- Does it need your permission? No: it is the record of your own answer.
Navigation state of this tab (session storage)
- Who sets it: digitalbakers.com.
- What for: to remember how far down you had scrolled on each page you visit, so that going back shows the page and the header already in place, and to continue the visual animation when you open an article from its card. It contains no personal data.
- How long: only while the tab is open; it is deleted when you close it.
- Does it need your permission? No: it is technical.
Contact form session (__Host-db-contact cookie)
- Who sets it: digitalbakers.com, only when you open the contact page with the form active.
- What for: to tell your sending session from others and limit how many messages each one can send. It is a random, signed identifier: it holds no data about you and cannot follow you across pages.
- How long: 30 minutes, renewed each time the form loads; it is removed once that time passes without using the form.
- Does it need your permission? No: it is strictly necessary to send the message you ask us to send.
Protection against automated traffic (__cf_bm, cf_clearance and _cfuvid cookies)
- Who sets them: Cloudflare, our network infrastructure.
- What for: to tell people from bots and protect the site from abuse. They only appear if that protection is active.
- How long:
__cf_bm, 30 minutes;cf_clearance, as configured for the protection;_cfuvid, the session. - Do they need your permission? No: they are security cookies, strictly necessary.
On the contact form, the Cloudflare Turnstile anti-abuse check verifies that you are not a bot without cookies or cross-page tracking. To do so, Cloudflare processes technical data about your connection (such as your IP address and browser) to protect the form and improve that service, and does not use it to identify you or build a profile.
Visit analytics (_ga and _ga_<identifier> cookies), only if you accept
- Who sets them: Google Analytics, on behalf of Digital Bakers.
- What for: to count visits and page views, to learn how you reached the
site (a search engine, a social network, a campaign link) and how many
visits end in an enquiry through the form.
_gatells one browser from another with a random identifier;_ga_<identifier>keeps the state of the visit. - How long: up to two years.
- Do they need your permission? Yes. They are not set, and nothing from Google Analytics is loaded, until you press “Accept” in the cookie notice.
How Google processes this data is explained in the Privacy policy, and in Google’s own privacy policy.
Cookieless visit measurement (Cloudflare Web Analytics)
On every visit, Cloudflare Web Analytics counts page views and measures how long pages take to load. It sets no cookie and stores nothing in your browser, so it does not need your permission and works the same whether you accept or reject analytics. More detail in the Privacy policy.
What we do not do
We use no advertising cookies, social media pixels or device fingerprinting. We do not use analytics to show you advertising and we do not combine it with other Google services.
The cookie notice and how to change your choice
The law (Article 22.2 of Spanish Law 34/2002, LSSI-CE, and the Spanish Data Protection Agency’s guide on the use of cookies) requires your permission for cookies that are not necessary for the service you request and that you did not choose yourself. On this site, only the analytics ones. That is why, the first time you visit, we show a notice with two buttons at the same level, “Accept” and “Reject”:
- Until you choose, Google Analytics is not loaded. Continuing to browse does not count as accepting.
- We remember your choice for 24 months at most, or until this policy changes.
- You can change it whenever you like with the “Cookie settings” link in the footer of every page. If you withdraw your acceptance, we stop loading Google Analytics and delete its cookies.
Third-party content: videos
Some articles include YouTube videos. The player does not load until you press play. Before that, we only show a cover image hosted by us and a notice about loading third-party content, with a link to this policy. When you press play, the video loads from youtube-nocookie.com and Google may store information in your browser under its privacy policy. If you would rather avoid that, do not press play.
How to clear or limit storage
You can change the theme at any time with the toggle in the header, and clear everything this site stores from your browser’s settings (site data or cookies): Chrome, Safari, Firefox and Edge. Blocking storage does not stop you from using the site; it will simply no longer remember your theme or your cookie choice.
Changes to this policy
We will review this policy whenever what the site stores in your browser changes. The version in force is the one published here, with its update date. It is published in Spanish, Catalan and English; in the event of any discrepancy, the Spanish version prevails.
